The Oktoberfeest Sittard in The Netherlands saw plenty of fixtures from Infinity and Showtec bathing the Boels Rental stage in light and flooding it with effects. The annual festivities and performances of national and international artists received a vivid boost of energy through the lighting design of Lars Aarts and rigging work of Reflexion Evenemententechniek.
Oktoberfeest Sittard started 18 years ago as a cooperation between fairground unions and entrepreneurs Markt en Binnenstad Sittard (market and city centre Sittard), advising the municipality to move the spring fair to the second week of October because of the already existing abundance of events from June to September. Giving the timing of the event, adopting the Oktoberfest theme (after the popular German festivity that has inspired many like-minded festivals worldwide) seemed a logical approach. With a circus tent in the City Garden with a capacity of 1,000 visitors and a funfair with 80 rides throughout the city centre, the first edition immediately struck a chord, and soon, the Oktoberfeest Sittard grew into a successful six-day festival.
The 2022 edition started on Friday 21 October and lasted until Wednesday 26 October. On the annual festival, well-known international, national, and regional artists performed on several stages. For his design on the large Boels Rental stage, Lighting Designer Lars Aarts from T.Y.S. Productions had used 17 Infinity iFX-640 and 25 Infinity Furion B401 moving heads, accompanied by several Showtec Sunstrip Active MKII. Artists like DJ Jean, The Sunclub, Dieter Koblenz, Beppie Kraft, and many more took the stage and performed under the vivid Infinity and Showtec lighting, set up by Reflexion Evenemententechniek. The photos are from Bas Smeets of Rockateer.nl and provide a good impression of the ambience and powerful possibilities of the moving heads and Sunstrips.
